White faced heron camouflaged in rocks

Description

A white faced heron stands amongst grey rocks between the beach and the sea. It was almost invisible on a grey autumn day. The wading bird , called matuku moana in Maori, stands quietly watching the beach. It is a tall, elegant bird with yellow legs and a grey-blue covering of feathers. The eye is yellow and the long beak is black. It has white on the face and neck.
